Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning

Institutional effectiveness involves systematic and ongoing planning, evaluation, and assessment related to the goals and outcomes developed to support the college mission.

Mission

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness serves to advance the mission of Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) through ongoing planning, evaluation, and assessment. The Office works closely with College leadership to ensure goals are linked to the 2006-10 Strategic Plan, strategies are set annually, and the results of evaluation and assessment are used to facilitate improvement and resource investment decisions.

Institutional Effectiveness 2008-2009 Goals

1. Continue to implement and maintain BCTC's Strategic Plan.

  • Establish a Strategic Plan Action Team.
  • Coordinate the strategic plan retreat to establish 2009-2010 annual priorities.
  • Develop Trends & Forces and SOAR analysis for 2010-2016 Strategic Plan.
  • Review and/or revise mission, core values, and vision.
  • Incorporate annual plan progress into the Strategic Plan Progress Report for 2007-2008.
  • Monitor the annual plan process.



2. Continue to implement and maintain BCTC’s Institutional Effectiveness Plan (IEP).

  • Complete the Manual for Assessing Institutional Effectiveness and Student Learning Outcomes.
  • Maintain the assessment database.
  • Assist in the development of a budget and planning calendar.
  • Maintain the Institutional Effectiveness website.
  • Review benchmark institutions for best practices in institutional effectiveness.


3. Use assessment and evaluation results for continuous quality improvement across the College.

  • Assist in the development of periodic health review processes for academic units.
  • Develop pilot health review process for Student Development and Enrollment Management and other support units.
  • Improve the use of assessment results to "close the loop", through group and individual training sessions.
  • Assist in developing the SACS Compliance Report.
  • Provide support and assist in meeting internal and external needs.
