As BCTC Board of Directors Chair and as Chair of the newly appointed Local Search Advisory Group (LSAG), I would like to update you on the Presidential Search.    Dr. McCall, has appointed members to serve on the Local Search Advisory Group.  The group’s role is as follows:

Confirm selection criteria for President/CEO

Review credentials and prepare recommendations of candidates for on-site visits

Ensure communication of LSAG efforts with campus personnel.

Provide input to KCTCS President on finalists.

Members of the LSAG will review and use the results from the Presidential Search survey as a part of the selection process.  Below, in order of importance, are the results of the top ten qualities identified in the survey:

Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

A person of high integrity and well respected in the education arena.

Understanding of a comprehensive community/technical college, believes in its overall mission and knows how to fulfill it.

Focuses on student access to and success in programs.

Ability to work with local community, civic leaders and other regional educational institutions in a cooperative, understanding and effective manner.

Committed to professional development for faculty and staff.

Encourages new ideas which favor enrollment, both in the short and long term.

Ability to lead an institution that values and respects diversity.

Experience in developing coalitions and community partnerships; evidence of leadership in supporting economic development and establishing a positive institutional presence in the community.
